EEK! Gosh, I love my sister Grace and her super smart and cuddly baby, Rhys! I also love 70 degree days and wearing flip flops in January. Yup.
I haven’t seen this kid since the week he was born, so it was such a treat to be able to visit to take some professional pictures of him and his mama. He is now 14 months old and walking. and learning to talk. sort of. He isn’t really speaking words we understand, however he sure knows what he is saying. He is definitely a McKay because he talks a LOT. haha. He also likes to stack things. Like stacking trucks onto his rocking chair and then climbing on TOP of all that to sit down. I’m thinking he will be a rock climbing engineer…
Anyway, it was a fun and warm trip down to Austin to hang out with my family and my old high school friends. When I realized we all turn 40 this year, I had to go! A cheap flight and warm temps were the icing on the cake. Isn’t life wonderful when there are people you’ve known since you were a *kid* and you still have tons in common?? Gosh, I love these ladies.
The Ani DiFranco lyric sums it up “…Like looking at your own history. In the faces of your friends…”
My Mom and sister, Meghan came over from Houston and my older brother, Nathan, came up from San Antonio too. Check out the next blog post about Nathan… we hit up some of the Austin Skateparks together!
If you have never been to Austin, here are my top 5 favorite things about the place (aside from the peeps):
- America’s best airport!
- Restaurants that have picnic tables with jungle gyms for the kiddos!
- Epic vintage and thrift shops
- A plethora of tasty veggie food
