A few years ago, I met the beautiful bride at a group workout session! We’ve since worked out together several times, including recently at a yoga/beer combo for my birthday.
So, as I was driving down to Jen & Bill’s Ithaca wedding, I was laughing about the fact that Jennifer and I have only ever seen each other as a sweaty mess.
When she called to ask me about capturing her wedding photography at the Inn at Taughannock Falls, I said YES. With the intimate guest count, their children walking them down the aisle, and a simple cocktail hour and dinner to follow checked all of my boxes.
As you can see, Jen looked like a movie star in this beautiful lace gown and yet again, she had me saying YES! when I found out that she wasn’t having much of a train.
As a wedding photographer for 20 years, the train and the veil are my two least favorite things to deal with on a wedding day.
Her gown and whole look were perfect. Not to be outdone, I was also stoked to find out that the Groom wasn’t wearing a traditional suit either.
Bill looked relaxed and fancy at the same time with a linen shirt, and again, I wish more wedding couples wore attire just like this.
After their quick “first look” before the rain headed our way, we jumped in the car and headed up to Taughannock Falls Park to capture a few images of their favorite spot.
We did get caught in the pouring rain for a moment, however, we just waited it out in the car. I love summer thunderstorms! Fast and furious, but they create beautiful lighting.

With all the guests arriving and the rain looming, we quickly made a game-time decision to roll the dice and get on with the show.
Bill had his two daughters walk him down the aisle and Jennifer had her two children as well.
What a unique experience to be able to walk your parents down the wedding aisle!
The family dog was the ring bearer and some friends poured a wine toast. After everyone was finished crying, I mean saying “I do!”, we made our way to the lawn for all of the formal portraits at Hillside House.

As you can see, Bill and Jen have a really fun family and have created the most amazingly supportive friendships.
I love that Bill’s girls make a W with him! (W for William)
Please join me in a giant CONGRATULATIONS to Bill and Jen! What an honor to document their day.
