Tong and David contacted me just over a week ago to photograph their small lakeside wedding ceremony at the E.B. Morgan House and Inns of Aurora in the Finger Lakes. Normally, I’m already pulling 14 hour days in November, however this year, my schedule has not been as gnarly as the past.
So, it was an honor to be able to say yes and to capture their small, lakeside Fall wedding on Cayuga Lake.
The wedding was very simple and short, with only immediate family present to witness the event, including Tong’s parents who traveled all the way from China!
Lucky for them, they got to see the crown jewel of the Finger Lakes with the Inns of Aurora and we had gorgeous weather for their wedding photos.
I loved that the couple incorporated the essence of the Chinese Tea Ceremony into theirs with offering red roses to the parents instead of tea. Also as is custom is the giving of a small gift and it was quite surprising and appreciated for all of us vendors to receive a nice gift of tea and sweets from the couple as thanks.
A special treat for me was that the couple asked for videography. Now, normally, I do not offer video services, however I just happened to have a friend in Ithaca that does! Sebastian and Owen went above and beyond to document the wedding.
Fun fact: Sebastian‘s Mom was my mentor years ago when I was starting my wedding photography business! His father was a wedding videographer and so Sebastian grew up with the business in his blood.
What a treat to get to work with him on this event. I can’t wait to see how he translates the day into moving images.
The wedding was short and very sweet and the rest of my time was spent watching and photographing the changing sunset over Cayuga Lake.
Congratulations to David and Tong! Thank you so much for your openness and generosity. It was a pleasure to document your love and your small lakeside wedding at the EB Morgan House and Inns of Aurora!
