Lance & Jessica: Rochester Wedding Photos at Colgate Divinity and Highland Park

Love

Lance and Jessica’s wedding at the gorgeous Colgate Divinity School was a touching and loving wedding on a stunning summer day. Even though the ceremony was religious in nature, the ceremony held a lot of special, unique and couple-specific moments as well, like a tree planting instead of a unity candle.

The grounds were a perfect scene for an outdoor wedding, with Colgate as an amazing background, similar to a castle in England. I’ve photographed several weddings inside the chapel before, however this was my first time on the lawn. I loved it!

After a very early dinner inside, the Bridal Party and Bride & Groom came outside during the early sunset hours for fun and relaxed bridal party photos on the gorgeous grounds of Colgate. The temperature subsided a bit and the evening light was easy to tame.

En route to the after party, the couple and I took a walk through Highland Park for more romantic images, away from the prying eyes of wedding guests. This is the best way to capture real, relaxed, authentic and special images for my couples. Together we planned out this idea ahead of time for a picnic / book reading in the park since it is something Lance and Jessica do together often.

and then…. the after party at Olmstead Lodge in Highland Park, which proved a perfect place to let loose, dance and enjoy the summer sunset with their closest friends and family. With amazing desserts, coffee by Joe Bean Coffee Roasters and a relaxed atmosphere, it was an excellent evening and party.

fun fact: Last Fall, I photographed an amazingly fun wedding at the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake and during the bridal party photos, we were photo-bombed by a huge hot air balloon! (read all about the chaos it created right here). So, this past winter, I ordered a sample wedding album from that wedding and the first couple to see the album was Lance and Jessica. and…… Lance’s family owns that hot air balloon!!! His brother, Lee, is the one who was piloting the balloon! Small world!!!! Synergy!

Hi Heather...I love the way you captured the special moments of this unique wedding. The pictures are amazing...it's no wonder you are one of the top photographers in NY. (BTW the first pic you have on this post shows the lovely Jessica...and for some reason me on the right reflected through the window??? I was the fill in taking pics of the bride and the maids getting ready before you arrived. Maybe you meant to choose a different one for your first picture)
