Lynn and Terry had a lovely Rochester outdoor wedding in Powder Mills Park this past Saturday. As usual, my sunny day guarantee stands as we were in a little bubble of sunshine in an otherwise rainy and cloudy Rochester.
This wedding was very special to me for several reasons. The first is that Lynn was one of my employees back in my past life at my former job. She was around while I was building my business about a decade ago! Back then, I worked 50-60 hours a week and then went home to client meetings and research. It was a rough time and yet totally worth the effort. This weekend brought back a flood of memories and reminded me just how far I’ve come.
Back in the day, Lynn had recommended me to her sister Terri and I photographed her and Larry’s wedding back in 2007. So, obviously it was a complete joy that not only I was being asked to photograph Lynn’s wedding, but also that I was available for this rustic, offbeat wedding in the park. It was so wonderful to see this family again and reconnect with Terry, Larry and their two beautiful daughters.
We started the day at Woodcliff Hotel and Spa and it was a quiet morning with the girls getting ready and watching the clouds move through. Lynn was glowing and relaxed all morning. After 12 years of being friends with Terry, and a decade of dating, she was ready to marry her best friend.
We all waited in Powder Mills Park near a very special tree for Lynn to arrive. Lynn and Terry chose this spot for their wedding because it was planted in honor of a close friend. The tree was decorated and everyone took turns paying their respects.
The party was happening elsewhere while we were taking family photos, so we orchestrated this giant group photo in order to remember everyone in attendance! Thank you to Mark who procured a ladder for me!
Everyone’s emotions were flowing as we walked around the park capturing formal portraits, while leaving enough time for Lynn and Terry to chat with their family and friends.
And then, once everyone else had left, the Bride and Groom snuck away in this classic 1970 Cutlass convertible to take pictures at her childhood home nearby.
Congratulation to Terry and Lynn on their beautiful wedding. It was such an honor to be the one to capture your wedding day! I’m so happy for you both. A special Thank You to Terri for organizing your sister’s perfect wedding and reconnecting us.
Thank you so very much, Heather, for your talents which you so beautifully extended to capture our magical day. We are so pleased with having worked with you and the results look amazing so far!!
Lynn, I’m so pleased to hear that you two love everything so far. Everything came out great and I can’t wait to show you the rest. Congrats again and thank you for having me there. It was a treat.
