Sweet Briar Wedding with Julia & Shawn
Oh, what a fun fun fun wedding… Would you expect anything less from Julia & Shawn? These two have been a pleasure to work with over the course of the year leading up to this day. Not only did we have a super fun Engagement Session down at Ontario Beach Park, but this Sweet Briar wedding was nothing short of amazing.
When I arrived at Radiance Spa at Sweet Briar Inn, Julia’s Mom was hard at work fixing all of the girls’ hair and Joan Lincoln was moving right along with her classic wedding makeup artistry
Wait, stop there…. when I arrived…. the Groomsmen were in the pool! Oh, to be a man. Drinking beer, swimming in the pool and playing Kan Jam! That was really all they had to do in order to get ready. And yet, they all looked SO sharp when they cleaned up. I loved the color of the suits and was secretly envious of Shawn’s shoes…
The ceremony began just a little behind schedule, however once it began, all was well. The beaming smiles on everyone’s faces, the touching readings and the unique rock ceremony all made this one of the most awe inspiring wedding ceremonies I have attended. The love and simple comfort that Julia and Shawn have for each other just pours from their souls.
The tent wedding reception was absolutely perfect… set back in the trees. Nearly as soon as I arrived to get set up for the reception entrance I noticed some familiar faces! One of my Father’s oldest friends was there with his wife! These two were very helpful to me back in my RIT days and it was so nice to see them and spend a few minutes getting caught up. I even took a picture on the dance floor for my Dad. I call it “look who I found!” Oh, Rochester, you are such a small town.
Two other notable events from the reception were the toasts and the fireworks. Julia’s infectious laugh had everyone in stitches during Amanda’s speech about how when they first met, she thought Julia was Gloria Estefan… and even brought a poster with the two women’s pictures side by side. The fireworks were, well, fireworks! I mean, you really can’t go wrong with fireworks. Especially secret fireworks! Thank goodness Shawn had warned me about them, so I was still at the reception when they went off. And I was happy that Will from Pied Piper DJs was able to get the party back together after everyone returned from the display.
Did I say it was a fun fun fun day? I was pretty wiped out on Sunday, so that means that everything went as planned!
Congratulations, Julia & Shawn!!
Have a blast in Hawaii and I look forward to seeing the pictures! Enjoy these wedding photo teasers in the meantime.

A very special thank you to my assistant/second Photographer, Michael Hanlon, who always does great work and is a pleasure to be around. He is one of my very favorite Photographers to work with and I never regret hiring him to help out.
