For all the New Moms: Ignorance is Bliss

Family Planning

Another guest post for all of my past brides who are expecting their first (or second) child… by my Mom! As a mother of six, I consider her to be an expert. Hopefully one of her six stories will help make the process a little easier so you to know what to expect when you are expecting.

“But the “What to Expect When You Are Expecting” book said…”

My 6 babies survived infant hood without their mother ever reading a book on infants. How did that happen? I was ignorant about so many things! Nutrition, lotions, yoga, massage therapy, etc., etc.  They didn’t have more clothes than 1 load of laundry, and all the toys fit into a small basket! Yet they survived and thrived!

Sometimes ignorance is bliss. No freaking out and a trip to the ER when the boss’s kids gave the oldest Kool-aid when she was 8 months old.  Nutrition? That’s what baby vitamins are for. So they eat the same food for 2 weeks in a row. They will eventually eat something else. It all works out in the end.

Special seats and chairs? That is why parents have legs and arms. Teach your child to sit up by holding them on the couch between your legs. Your arms are to catch them if they lean forward too far.
I could go on and on.

So until next time,
