James and Laura had a beautiful Finger Lakes wedding at the historic Belhurst Castle in Geneva.
We had the threat of rain all day, however just a few drizzles appeared here and there. I’m wondering if my ‘sunny day guarantee’ still stands???? Hmmmm, well, I say that we had a beautiful outdoor ceremony and were able to capture the family formal portraits outdoors too, so….
The families and friends made me feel right at home, like I was part of the furniture. It was great. These kids were hilarious! They had me laughing all day and sure knew how to have fun. Between the silly faces and completely dominating the dance floor, it was hard to take photos of anyone else.
There was romance in the air as well. Just before the ceremony, Laura opened a surprise gift from James… a beautiful bracelet with two rings. So sweet and it really fit in with her bridal attire.
A big thank you shout out to Kara and Matt for being so kind as to recommend my work to Laura and James for their Finger Lakes wedding! Kara and Matt were married many years ago at Artisan Works and it was so lovely to sit with them at dinner and reconnect. They are one of my all time favorite couples and I couldn’t be happier to have been the one to photograph their friend’s wedding too.
fun fact: Just after Laura and James hired me, I was in Boston for Merri and Alan’s wedding and so we met in person for a beer (they live there). While we were getting to know each other, I told them about “Travel Hacking” and how my trip to Africa was basically free because of airline miles. Well, that lit a fire in James and he managed to earn enough miles for the two of them to travel first class on around the world tickets for their honeymoon! Amazing! So far, they estimate that the flights would have cost $69,000! Well done, sir. Well done! So happy for you two!
Congratulations again on your wonderful Belhurst wedding and I wish you many many happy years of married bliss (and Manic Street Preachers concerts!).
