Fall Adirondack Wedding at Forest Lake Camp
What a fun Adirondack wedding weekend at Forest Lake Camp. Liz & Greg had the perfect low-key destination wedding weekend in the Adirondacks for their closest friends and family. The goal was for everyone to become friends and get to know each other… and we did! Between the afternoon hikes, campfires, paddling excursions, mountain bike riding, rock climbing and just enjoying the Fall foliage, we all bonded and had a perfect weekend. I’m blessed to have been their wedding photographer and to make so many new friends.
Liz and I met years ago when I was hanging out with a lot of University of Rochester PhDs/Post Docs/Grad students. A group of us would meet up on Wednesdays and watch Kung Fu. It was a good time, obviously. So, we reconnected at The Webber’s wedding two years ago and I knew then that she was headed for the alter with Greg. There was a closeness and a calm and a trust between the two of them that I picked up on when I took a picture that I learned this weekend that they had never seen. I used it as an ‘engagement picture’ for the event cards I left out at the reception…
Forest Lake Camp was a great place to host a wedding. I mean, anyone who can deal with hundreds of little kids all summer can certainly handle a wedding party. Bret, Shea and the rest of the staff were so helpful, so friendly and so on top of every detail that they really out shined most wedding locations I’ve worked. And surprisingly, the food was really good too! Most of the guests stayed in the cabins at the camp and it was a throw back to our youth…. sleeping in bunk beds and wearing flip flops in the shower (shout out to Cabin 3! what what!). My favorite part were the campfires every night, with a keg of beer and all the fixings for s’mores! Ah, and laying on the dock watching shooting stars!
My favorite new friend from the weekend was the wedding officiant/reverend, Aaron. This dude was hilarious. and fun. and helpful. and he did a great job with the rehearsal and ceremony. he also did a bang up job filming the guy’s morning mountain biking ride with my Go Pro video camera that I strapped to his bike helmet! Oh, the footage is hilarious! So Aaron, thanks for making me laugh all weekend, teaching me to paddle board and for helping me take fun starry night photos by the campfire!
