Nerdy Cumming Nature Center Wedding with Pat & Rhea
Pat and Rhea threw the most stunning DIY, sci-fi themed wedding that you could possibly imagine.
As this nature loving couple wanted the perfect outdoor wedding venue for their THIRD wedding date (thanks, pandemic), the Cumming Nature Center was the ideal location for this COVID-friendly wedding.

Cumming Nature Center Wedding Venue
Located near Bristol and Naples NY, the nature center had everything one could want for a fun, laid-back wedding in the woods.
We had full access to the entire location and both the Bride and the Groom got ready there. With stuffed animals and nature books surrounding the inside and hiking trails, mushrooms, and trees surrounding us outside.
Nature Center Wedding Ceremony in the Woods
Pat and Rhea’s intimate wedding at Cumming Nature Center had us all in awe as Rhea and her Dad made their way down the path to the clearing for the ceremony.
The canopy of trees allowed us to bask in the glow of a setting sun as the couple said “I do.”
From Star Wars to the Princess Bride, movie and book quotes were sprinkled into the wedding ceremony throughout and made all the guests laugh out loud, even as happy tears were shed.
Upon leaving the ceremony, there was a 12 kayak paddle solute to send the couple off to married bliss.

What’s really unique about the Cumming Nature Center for weddings is the path of trees that surrounds the property. It’s a cinematic location for all of the formal portraits and we had a varying degree of golden hour light to harness.
Fun Fact A:
The happy couple met when Pat was working at the Bay Creek Paddling Center and Rhea came in as a customer. Later, they met online and remembered that interaction!
Fun Fact B & C:
I know the groomsmen! Jeff Berry and I met through years of being part of the Greater Rochester Professional Photographers Association and the other groomsman, Dave, sold my parents their kayak and lives in my neighborhood! He’s also the one that recommended me to Pat.

Outdoor Wedding Venue in Naples, NY
Once we returned to the party, there were plenty of hugs and laughs to get us through the evening.
… and dinosaur themed details…. (ask them about the engagement ring and bracelet!)
The couple opted for a crowd-pleasing dinner of Marty’s Meats and the Poutine food trucks for dinner, with the Netsin’s Ice cream truck for dessert (along with amazing little bundt cakes too).
All of the details at this wedding were made by the couple, including using their own books for the centerpieces. I loved everything they planned and it looked like they had a professional wedding designer do the decor!

Saturday gave us perfect weather and the intimacy of all attendees added a backyard wedding vibe to the day.
We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day for the happy couple, their families and friends.
