Amanda & Jeff planned a very modern, elegant and intimate wedding at the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Mansion on Delaware in downtown Buffalo! It was my pleasure being their wedding photographer, thanks to Melissa & Jordan. What a completely different wedding. This is what I love about my job. Every day and every couple is so different. Even if they come from the same friends base.
The day started out with both of them getting ready at the gorgeous Mansion on Delaware hotel. We kept having to kick Amanda back into her room so that Jeff didn’t accidentally see her. Everything else went fairly smoothly and aside from a missing pair of suspenders, everyone was ready to go. Jeff had a really cool pink bow tie (his favorite wedding item!) and the Groomsmen all looked very dapper in their tuxedos. I rode over to St. Paul’s Cathedral in the Limo with the guys and I have to say… it was nice working with another wedding vendor that is a nerd about the details. The limo driver was on top of everything. Including running over the guy’s suits with a lint brush before AND after the wedding ceremony. I’m very thankful for this as it will help keep my retouching to a minimum.
The ceremony was a beautiful candle lit ceremony in the most gorgeous cathedral I have seen outside of Europe. Breathtaking. Afterwards, we headed over to Shea Theater to get some funky downtown bridal party photos near the trolly tracks. We nearly got run over a few times, but hey, it was worth it. I forgot how much better the architecture is in Buffalo. Every building is so detailed and unique.
The cocktail hour was outside on the side garden patio and there are secret rooftops that I was able to sneak onto to grab some ariel photos. The window in Jeff’s brother’s room was so small that my P90X skills came in handy as I used all abs to get in and out of that window. Not very graceful, but would have made an amusing photo.
Because this was a small wedding reception, it was a pretty quiet affair with lots of hanging around between dinner courses. I was hoping for a nice sunset, but unfortunately the light tanked pretty fast. I guess it makes me appreciate them more when I’m able to capture them. The moon was looking pretty cool though and just chilling at half mast all night.
I drove home the same night, after a cup of coffee and marveled at the new wedding locations I’ve been able to visit this year, after all these years. Amanda & Jeff threw a wonderful and relaxed party with the nicest and friendliest of guests. It was also nice to get caught up with Melissa & Jordan and her family.
