When Annie and Chris contacted me about their wedding photography at the Inns of Aurora, we realized that they live two blocks away from my brother in Brooklyn! So, when they were arguing about whether or not to do Engagement Photos I came up with a plan to capture their life in Brooklyn as the engagement pictures and their “How we met” story. We are using the images in their guestbook for the wedding and it will be lovely for their friends and family to get a better sense of these two as a couple. It was also a great excuse to visit my little brother.
We began the weekend by getting to know each other in person at the brand new Westlight bar, which overlooks Manhattan. I had my first NYC celebrity sighting within minutes of getting to the bar! Once everyone arrived from work that Friday night, we snuck out to the windy and cold balcony for a few romantic dusk photos overlooking the skyline. None of us lasted long, plus we were thirsty ;-). We had a ton of fun laughing, eating tapas and trying all of the craft cocktails that Westlight had to offer. Then we balanced it all out by heading back to Bushwick to finish the evening in a dive punk bar. It was Halloween weekend, so it was perfect!
The following day, after we all slept in, Trey and I met Chris and Annie at their apartment to help plan their wardrobes and capture just a few images of that apartment for the start of ‘the story’. An Uber quickly collected us and drove us over to Annie’s very favorite mural in all of Bushwick.
Their mural laden, urban Brooklyn engagement photos were taken at places that have deep meaning to the couple.. Ask Chris about OWLS!!!
We visited their first date restaurant for lunch…
and this is where I found out that Annie LOVES things that are spicy!
Then we headed over to the bar where they met. It was like a movie scene… the door opens with a gust of wind and in comes Annie. Chris turns his head and there she was…. his future wife!
So of course we also stopped by the location of their first kiss too..
First date, first kiss, first place they said “I love you“… it was a whirlwind portrait session capturing their Brooklyn engagement photos and documenting their unique story of how they got to their upcoming wedding day. I cannot wait to capture their wedding!
Keep an eye out for their wedding photos this June! Now that I know these two, I’m sure it will be a blast.
