We had one heck of a party and a gorgeous summer day for this wedding at Bristol Harbour wedding in Canandaigua, NY. Ashley and Aaron did a wonderful job of transforming Finger Lakes’ rustic Bristol Harbour.
The flowers were absolutely stunning and added a nice POP to all of the green of this Finger Lakes view. The look and feel of this wedding was actually similar to a Hurd Orchards wedding and I think the images look like it too. From the abundant floral arrangements to the men’s suits, everything had a nice rustic chic element.
There isn’t much to say about the wedding day because everything went SO smoothly. Seriously! Not only was everyone on time for the family formals, but we knocked these out early and with no stress. Even from behind the scenes (i.e. – in my head).
Receiving my Professional Photographers of America Certified Professional Photographer designation helped a lot…. I think this wedding is my most consistent in terms of straight-out-of-the-camera quality that I’ve ever done. I was in manual nearly the entire day, including using on camera flash (which I usually hate), and the few times I didn’t shoot in manual, I wish I had. All of this is geek talk, so I’m sure no one would notice except me. I’ll notice when I get to spend a little less time editing the images than normal. Actually, there were so many photographers at this wedding… most of you reading will probably know exactly what I’m talking about. Getting a crisp clean image in camera is always the goal, and editing thousands of images from one wedding can be a burden.
Anyway, on to the Bride and Groom! These two rock! We had so much fun and the Bridal Party was really laid back and easy to navigate. There were none of the normal issues of chasing down a missing Groomsman or getting the Bridesmaids to loosen up their pose or find their flowers. In fact, they were so great that we were taking more pictures even as the sun was setting! Usually, I don’t do so many formals, however the night just lent itself to discovery of light and the view was something we kept chasing in images. Oddly, the best light of the night was used on tipsy Bridesmaids. Oh, Sarah & Erin, how I adore thee…
Honestly, there isn’t much else to say. Everyone just hung around outside, enjoying the beautiful sunset (and some Cuban cigars). I stuck around and had a drink while waiting for the awesome fireworks display, and it was totally worth it! You really can’t beat a fireworks in the summertime. I tested out my new Nikon D300 and it performed really well under the low light. I’m glad I brought it with me.
Ashley & Aaron, have a great time on your honeymoon! Thank you so much for hiring me as your Wedding Photographer! It was an honor and a blast.
