Zaneb & Kevin had quite the trip to the alter last week, testing them one last time before they were married at the Colgate Divinity Chapel. Four days prior to their wedding, their home was robbed, while they slept. Obviously adding to the last minute chaos of wedding planning. Zaneb’s laptop, with most of the wedding documents was among the lost items.

Luckily, these two have a solid foundation and persevered through this last wrench thrown at them. We had pouring down rain Friday and Sunday, so clearly someone was shining down on these two as Saturday was sunny and cool.
The multi-cultural wedding was held at the gorgeous chapel at the Colgate Divinity School here in the Highland Park Neighborhood. It was a perfect ceremony officiated by their friend, Sam Picard, a pastor of Laurelton United Presbyterian Church who did a wonderful job keeping things short and sweet and true.
Zaneb looked absolutely amazing in a handmade wedding dress with real gold woven in the fabric. All of the women wore traditional handmade dresses and were gorgeous. The guys looked good too! I even got photo-bombed by the yoga instructor brother, Aqeel… twice!
We had a lot of time built into the day and since Zaneb and Kevin are NOT fans of formal portraiture in general, I orchestrated a lunch at South Wedge’s Tap & Mallet for the Bridal Party. Since this is Kevin & Zaneb’s favorite haunt, it was a perfect stop to the reception at Artisan Works. Since I photographed Jeana and John’s wedding at the Tap & Mallet and go to the Tap & Mallet frequently, Greg and the staff were nice enough to let me capture some great images of the newly weds and their friends. Excellent service and food as usual. This was my favorite part of the day. Watching the Bride and Groom relaxed and enjoying the company of their closest friends and family.
After lunch, we headed over to the wedding reception and as usual, the guests were shocked and in love with the entire space of Artisan Works. With all of the art on the walls, there was plenty to keep people entertained. Kevin’s brother gave one of the best toasts I’ve heard in years and it was very thoughtful and a hard act to follow. Kevin’s Mom and all of her friends dominated the dance floor and it was just one big, fun party for the entire evening. Perfect mix of friends and family for sure and it was an honor to be part of the festivities. Notable moment for me was when Zaneb asked me if I’d tried the cake yet, I said no and so she shoved a piece of cake in my mouth! Awesome! She wasn’t kidding though… it was GOOD.
Kevin & Zaneb, best wishes for you two! I have enjoyed working with you this year and loved capturing the essence of those present on your wedding day. More images of the Engagement Session and Rehearsal Dinner to come…
